# Opening PDFs from FB Messenger

PDFs in Facebook messenger won’t open in Brave in either Desktop or iOS.

Steps: have someone send a PDF via Facebook messenger and click on that PDF in either desktop or iOS.

Result: on desktop, it tries to download the PDF even when the “open PDFS” option is enabled in Brave.  
On iOS, it opens the FB app which then opens Brave to a page that says “failed to get new URL.”

Expected result: When other browsers are my default browser, the PDF will open in the browser.

Reproduces: 100%

WIndows 11 on Desktop, iOS on iPhone

Additional info: when I click on a link to a PDF from a website, that opens fine so it seems specific to pdfs in Facebook messenger. Is there any solution to this? Thanks!
