No share/screenshot icon in URL bar - Episode 2

Return of the same problem described here

+1

I’m experiencing the same issue.

It’s not just the Share and Screenshot icons that disappeared. I also noticed that these toolbar actions are no longer available in the address bar:

  • Share
  • Screenshot
  • Copy Clean Link
  • Create QR Code

The previous toolbar layout was much more convenient and allowed quick access to these actions with a single click. Keyboard shortcuts still work (for example, Ctrl + Shift + S for screenshots), but that’s not the same as having the toolbar buttons.

Is this an intentional UI change, or is it a bug? If it’s intentional, please consider bringing these icons back or at least provide an option to restore the previous toolbar layout.

Brave v1.93.129
Windows 11 Pro 25H2

All of these icons are available via the main menu (Save and share):

You can also go to Settings > Appearance > Customize your toolbar and toggle all these options “on” to display them on the browser toolbar directly:

Thanks for the clarification.

However, on latest Brave the Screenshot option is no longer present under Settings → Appearance → Customize your toolbar, so it cannot be restored to the toolbar.

I understand that these actions are still available from the Save and share menu, but that’s not really the issue.

The recent UI changes are confusing because functionality that was previously available with a single click in the address bar has either been moved into menus or can no longer be restored as toolbar buttons.

The previous layout was much more intuitive and efficient. Keyboard shortcuts (such as Ctrl + Shift + S) still work, but they don’t replace the convenience of having these actions visible and immediately accessible.

Was this an intentional design change, or is it a regression? If it’s intentional, please consider bringing back the previous address bar layout or at least providing an option to restore it.

thnx

Screenshot button will be in next couple of releases but if you want it now you can enable it via flag (#brave-screenshot)

I don’t understand – the buttons you’re referring to are just in the main menu and can be access by keyboard shortcuts as you point out. But more relevant is the toolbar icons – you’re doing almost the exact same thing you were before when using them, just a little to the right:

I was referring to the Settings → Appearance → Customize your toolbar section. Currently there is no “Screenshot” button to take it out on the toolbar! I believe I am being realistic about this!

OK then, what you quote, namely activating it via brave://flags, is another thing! I didn’t know! It seems to be something unfinished! Let’s hope that future versions will clarify things.

Ok I just enabled it via flags but this screenshot feature isn’t the same - It only allows you to capture the full screen whereas the one that got removed allowed you to select which part of the screen to capture

As you pointed out this feature is still available via the main menu or keyboard shortcuts but this simply isn’t as intuitive as having it available with 1 click

When you say it’ll be available in a couple of releases I hope you mean the more versatile one that just got removed instead of more basic one ?

Are we looking at the same thing? It lets me choose how I want to capture:

It only displays 2 options for me - Visible area + Full Page

Ah yes you are correct. I’ve been informed that this will be polished when it’s pushed into release and will have all three options. Not super sure why the flag version only shows two but this will change in the 1.94x update.
