# New Private Tab - Brave Search issue on 1.87.186

“Brave is ignoring my ‘New Tab’ preferences in Private mode. Even though I’ve deleted Brave Search and set my New Tab to my Home Page, it still forces the Brave Search landing page on me. I dislike the format and want this changed—how do I fix it?”

**How can this issue be reproduced?**

1. Open a Private Window

2. Click “+” New Tab

**Expected result:**

Opens Homepage

**Brave Version( check `About Brave`):**

Brave 1.87.186 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 145.0.7632.45

That’s your problem. In Private, New Tab Page doesn’t open to dashboard and doesn’t have its own unique setting. Private will only open to Brave Search with no alternative.

The setting you’re showing is for normal session, not Private.

Yeah @coldheart1997 there is no option to adjust the Private NTP. Very few settings are pulled from your main browser profile into Private window sessions and this setting is not one of them. This is done by intention, so as to ensure the least amount of data is used that could be traced back to your original profile.
