Do they appear greyed out even if you make a search on any page?
If no longer occurs with HTTPS off it most likely related to that feature.

@Kevin_cc Once a page loads, the Shields icon turns orange. But when a new TOR tab (or window) is opened, the Shields icon is grey.
Here is what I’m finding is happening now:
If I load only protonmail.com in the URL line, Brave thinks I’m loading an http: page and returns an error message (while also converting protonmail.com to proton.me).
If I then hit ‘Enter’ again while still in the URL line, it loads the page normally, as: https://proton.me/mail-protect
With twitter.com I am no longer (or at least not as of the most recent attempts) seeing any error messages. It loads normally (and as https:).
So I think the only remaining issue is why Brave will load twitter.com without any fuss (and as https: instead of http:) but not Protonmail when it’s entered in the URL line as protonmail.com.
Thanks.
Try going to brave://settings/privacy and setting Automatically redirect .onion sites off to see if that makes any change.
@Kevin_cc Thanks. Appreciate the follow-up.
Well… I’ve now entered protonmail.com in the URL line several times and the error condition has not occurred. This is without changing the privacy setting.
Let’s see if it holds.
If the error condition occurs again, I’ll make the settings change and see what effect that may have.
However, when I checked it, it was already turned ‘off’.
That’s a very strange behavior but so far it’s good you are no longer getting that error.
If it comes back or have other concerns, please let me know.
Thanks, it’s back again.

Thanks.
@Kevin_cc… I have two tabs open in a TOR window. Both display the same URL. In one tab the URL appears normally. In the other tab, an error message is displayed.
Tab 1

Tab 2

The tab on the left is one I opened days ago (and left open). The webpage had opened without any problem. It was after that that I posted the message in which I said the problem appeared to no longer be occurring.
The tab on the right is from the current session.
Two completely different responses by BRAVE to the same URL, opened at two different times.
@mk7z could you please click on the lock and the warning icons then click on the first result click on connection is secure > certificate is valid to see if there’s any difference between both of them.
Be waiting for your response.
@Kevin_cc This is from a new series today. (I had closed the tabs that were referenced in my last post.)
First tab doesn’t have a lock but returns the following:

Second tab:

Note that the sequence here was the ‘normal’ one – i.e., that the first tab displayed only an error message; the second tab opened normally. In both cases, I entered the same URL – protonmail.com.
Apparently, sometimes the URL will open normally on the first try, but that’s unusual.
Thanks.
@mk7z thanks for the information, I’ve shared this with our team and I’m waiting for further information on the matter. Once our team has answers, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
