Feature Request: Monero (XMR) Self-custody Withdrawal Option for Brave Rewards
Let’s cement Brave’s privacy bona-fides by adding Monero (XMR) as an additive BAT withdrawal option. This would build on the huge level up of adding self-custody solana and would add the Internet’s #1 “people actually use it, and privately” crypto to the Internet’s best browser.
- XMR Completes the privacy chain: On-device ad matching keeps browsing private, self-custody Solana removed the KYC barrier… But BAT is still transparent on-chain. XMR withdrawal makes the payout private too.
- XMR Has Proven demand: Monero is consistently the #1 crypto used on privacy sites that publish stats (e.g., NanoGPT, ShopinBit (https://monerostats.org/), etc). Privacy users vote with their wallets for XMR.
- Revenue Opportunity: Many privacy-conscious users skip Rewards because payouts require KYC or leave a transparent trail. An optional XMR path converts holdouts into participants, growing ad revenue and making Brave better for everyone.
- Partnership Opportunity: Brave already supports .XMR, a Cake Wallet project. Cake has a strong track record of collaborating with other projects and would be an excellent further partner.
