hello i was wondering why is my freinds website able to pull my exact location via gps through brave but if i use the tor proxy with extensions like location guard and user agent spoofer it no longer pulls my real location ? i have brave set to max security am using proton vpn and the tor socks5 to stop this is there anything that can be done?

This depends on a lot of factors. Most notably, if you’re using a VPN service to connect to the internet, then your location should be obfuscated regardless of what Brave is doing.

Can you please share the link to the website so that I can test on my end?

I’m confused – you’re saying that these are your friend sites but they’re also malicious?

Additionally, what steps would I take to have it find my location? For example, I went to the first site and it looks like its a sales website for glassware and other accessories. It did ask me for permission to know my location when I first landed there, to which I selected `Block` but I don’t see any way on the site to trigger it to detect my location.

Are you on desktop or mobile? What OS are you on?

Also, do you get the same location as on your friend’s website if you go here?

(This is a test page I wrote which uses the browser’s geolocation API. It will ask for permission to get your location and then it will show it to you with a link to a map. No logs of any kind, it’s all done in the browser.)
