Every clickable link inside my Gmail inbox is stuck on an infinite loading/spinning screen.
What happens:
-
The links work perfectly fine in a Private Window, but fail completely in a normal window.
-
Links in the normal email view spin forever instead of opening.
What has already been tested and failed to resolve the issue:
-
Browser components are fully up to date.
-
Gmail’s site permissions are set to explicitly allow pop-ups and redirects.
-
Brave Shields are turned completely OFF for Gmail.
-
Using Ctrl + Click to open the links still results in an infinite spin.
I’m on a Windows 11 desktop PC.
Since it works in a Private Window, I would first suspect something stored in the normal profile rather than Gmail permissions. Try disabling all extensions for a minute (not only Shields), then test Gmail again. If that changes nothing, I would clear site data just for mail.google.com/accounts.google.com and sign in again, or test from a fresh Brave profile before resetting the main one.
Thank you. I found the culprit, which was a browser extension.
For me it was Privacy Badger. Disabled that and
Gmail links worked again.
Update: this appears to be a bug in Brave that’s being addressed; GitHub issue here.
Yes, it was Privacy Badger for me, too.
