A lock extension I used crashed Brave and lost my saved and grouped tabs more than once, so I built one that doesn’t touch tabs at all. Latch locks a profile with a passcode (Touch ID optional), auto-locks on inactivity, in the background, on sleep or at startup, and has a recovery code.

On Mac there’s an optional helper app: a one-double-click install, then the lock covers each window exactly, tab strip included, even in full screen. Without it, Latch locks on the page.

Honest limits: it’s a privacy lock for a browser left on a desk, not a security boundary. The helper isn’t signed by Apple yet, so a downloaded copy may need right-click → Open once. It isn’t on the Web Store yet; load it unpacked. Source and a manual test list: [https://github.com/rajveeerr/latch](https://github.com/rajveeerr/latch?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

I still hope Brave introduces a native profile lock feature so we don’t have to rely on third-party extensions for something this basic. Until then, Latch is my attempt to make it work.
