I’m experiencing a playback issue on the latest version of Brave Browser when trying to watch animated movies on JioHotstar (India).
Whenever I open an animated movie (for example, The Bad Guys 2), the player fails to load and instead displays the following error:
Browser not supported
Error Code:ERR_PB_1441 (BFF)
The same content plays normally in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, so the issue appears to be Brave-specific.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Brave Browser (latest stable version).
- Visit JioHotstar India.
- Sign in with a valid account.
- Open an animated movie (e.g., The Bad Guys 2).
- Click Play.
Expected Result
The movie should begin streaming normally.
Actual Result
The player displays:
Browser not supported
Error Code:ERR_PB_1441 (BFF)
Playback never starts.
Additional Observations
- The issue appears only with animated movies.
- Regular movies and other content seem to work normally.
- Tested on Windows.
- The problem persists even after disabling Shields and updating Brave to the latest version.
- Chrome and Edge do not exhibit this issue using the same account and network.

Possible Cause
This may be related to browser detection, DRM/Widevine compatibility, media capability reporting, or a user-agent check that incorrectly identifies Brave as unsupported for certain protected content.
