iPad: YouTube login fails in Brave (error page), works in Safari and on iPhone

Description of the issue:
On my iPad, Brave can no longer log in to YouTube. When I tap Sign in, YouTube shows for a second, then an error page with TVs and a red banner (“a problem occurred while signing in to YouTube”). Sometimes I get a 404 page on m.youtube.com.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Brave on iPad
  2. Go to youtube.com
  3. Tap Sign in

Actual result:
Error page, I stay signed out.

Expected result:
Sign in to my Google account works.

What I already tried:
Reinstalled Brave, cleared cookies, disabled Shields, enabled “Always request desktop site”. The same Google account signs in correctly in Safari on the same iPad, and in Brave on my iPhone.

I do not have a YouTube nor Google account, but …

I run into the error page with TVs and a red banner (“a problem occurred while signing in to YouTube”) …

And I fix that by changing my VPN server connection ← sometimes, several times … before the browser apparently is connecting with YouTube from an agreeable place in the cosmos.
