iOS Brave returns to the New Tab page instead of the search results

Description

On Brave for iOS, when I open a website from search results and then press the Back button, Brave returns to the New Tab page instead of returning to the search results.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Search for something in Brave.
  2. Open a website from the search results.
  3. Press the Back button at the bottom left.
  4. Instead of returning to the search results, Brave returns to the New Tab page.

This worked normally before, but the issue suddenly started occurring recently.

Device: iPhone
OS: iOS 27
Brave: Latest version

My setup:

  • iPhone 14, iOS 18.7.8
  • Brave Browser v1.95 (104)
  • Private Browsing Only mode Enabled/Disabled
  • Trackers & Ads Blocking Aggressive
  • Global Shields UP
  • Block scripts Disabled and thus: JavaScript allowed
  • Block All Cookies Disabled
  • Block Fingerprinting Enabled
  • Enable Global Privacy Control Enabled
  • New Tab Page > Background Disabled
  • New Tab Page > Privacy Hub Disabled
  • New Tab Page > Favorites Enabled

My Brave Search settings:

  • Answer with AI Enabled
  • Anonymous local results Disabled
  • Discussions Disabled
  • Anonymous usage metrics Disabled

I enter search criteria in Brave Search’s search field (NOT in the URL address field)

Tested both: Private Browsing Only mode Enabled/Disabled
