Same for me. I’d love to use Brave as my default browser but I’m used to mouse gestures for over 10 years.
The lack of gestures in Brave is the only reason why I still have Vivaldi as default browser.
Please do the best and add build-in gestures, as CrxMouse and others are not good enough.
This feature is amazing.I saw Cent Browser.I think it is necessary
@LandFire Can you please expand on what this feature is and what you like about it? Otherwise, to me, this post just looks like you are plugging another browser in the hopes someone will download and take a look. Are you an employee of a Brave Browser competitor by chance? ![]()
The more information you provide, the more likely your feature request will be voted on. Maybe this is an awesome feature but I just don’t have enough information at this point to decide if I want to vote for it or not.
Please provide more information. Thanks. ![]()
Try the “Trackpad Gestures” and/or “Close This Tab” extension(s) for now in the Chrome Web Store. ![]()
@treego14 Oooh, thank-you for the additional info! I didn’t realize this was an extension type thing. I don’t use extensions at all. My system is ancient and I just don’t want any additional overhead added. Plus, I don’t want to bother with maintaining extension integrity or dealing with any conflicts that may arise. If it ain’t native, I ain’t gonna try it! ![]()
Hmmm, briefly scanned the extensions (and a few related extensions) and I don’t see the advantage of using since many of the actions are already available in both Brave and OS (in my case Windows) via keyboard shortcuts and/or current functionality. Can anyone provide specifics on the pros and cons? Or would that be too much work to go into? Or maybe just a general blurb on what makes the extension(s) functionality superior to what is already present in Brave/OS?

You wanted mouse gestures; Brave does NOT have mouse gestures. You will need an extension to have mouse gestures in Brave.
@treego14 Someone already tried to make a suggestion for this over on Github and it’s something they are aware.
Brave is currently looking at a lot of features that have been recommended and may be working on them soon. The recent Community Call had a lot of talk about adding customization options, among others. That said, there’s no guarantee this might be implemented. Also, even if it is, it might take a long time.
One thing I would highly suggest is if you’d really like to see this, perhaps you can reach out to Chromium as well. I suggest that as a lot of things come from “upstream” in the main Chromium project and then Brave strips some things out and adds others, which is how we end up with the Brave web browser. In many cases, it’s easier to have Chromium team add useful features.
NOTE
As we already have an existing topic on this, I will be merging yours over to Integrate Mouse gestures which was discussed on that Github. So when next you see this, it should be part of that same topic.
Hi all! I really love Brave and for a complete transition I miss the presence of mouse gestures (yes, I have already seen the developers ask for this, but the request has not yet been fulfilled). And yes, I know about extensions, but they don’t work correctly on Linux, and it’s not safe to install third-party extensions. Add just 3 mouse gestures: back, back, close tab! I think many users will support me.
I guess not three but four gestures: Back, Forward, closing tab, and lastly, opening a new tab. Yes, I randomly entered this conversation, but I also miss that feature in Brave. As I just switched to the Brave browser, it has an overall clean interface and almost everything that a person wants in their browser to make browsing easy, or I can say comfortable. If I speak frankly, we are lazy, and we want mouse gestures. But come on, that’s the feature that can make closing and opening tabs more comfortable, as we don’t need to click on that + icon to open a new tab; just use mouse gestures. Please add that feature; we all need it. Many users want that feature (you can just do it like this: if we slide the cursor down by pressing the right click on the mouse, a tab will close, and if we slide the cursor up by pressing the right click up, a tab will open. Yes, just this). Please, all users want this feature—a pleasant request from me and all users.
Hey,
I was checking the extensions in Chrome webstore. All of them I checked require to allow “read and change all data on all websites”. One of my motivations to switch to Brave (from Opera) is privacy, hence the extensions does not seem to be applicable here. And, of course, as Opera user, I really miss the mouse gestures. Nothing complicated really, at least forward and backward would be welcome…
Ah, still no support for mouse gestures in Brave in 2024. That’s a bummer. I wanted to test it. So I’m not switching and stay with Vivaldi. Without NATIVE mouse gestures a desktop browser isn’t efficient. I hope the developers will understand and implement them one day.
+1. Especially considering there are no trustworthy established mouse gesture addons right now.
Dear Support Team,
I would love to have native mouse gestures (mg) in Brave.
I have been using opera, vivaldi before and it was always my preferred way to move through the pages/history,…
I am about to change to Brave, because I have the feeling that is more for the users.
So, mg is the last important feature missing to me.
Thanks.
I’ve grown accustomed to the seamless navigation that mouse gestures provide in Edge, and I’ve found that browsing without it is a significant hindrance. The absence of this feature has made my browsing experience clunky and less enjoyable. I’m eager to give Brave a try, but I’m concerned that I’ll be forced to rely on sketchy add-ons to replicate the functionality I’m used to. I’m not alone in this request - many users are calling for the addition of mouse gestures in Brave, and I’m hoping that this feature will be reconsidered to enhance the overall browsing experience.
I must say that this is the only feature that force me to use Microsoft Edge everyday, its extremely convenient and smooth, please add this Brave, WE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS FOR 6 YEARS!!!
