Integrate Brave Leo with Note-Taking Applications

I’ve been using Brave Leo for a while now and it’s been incredibly helpful for my research and writing. One thing that would make me, and I believe many people, to the next level of productivity would be the ability to use Leo directly within my note-taking applications, like Obsidian.

Currently, I have to constantly switch between my browser and my notes, and I have to copy+paste the parts I like, why not just intergrate.

I imagine something like:

  • An official Leo API that developers could use to build plugins for various note-taking apps -Maybe even an endpoint-
  • The ability to use my Brave account/Leo subscription credentials to authenticate
  • Being able to highlight text in my notes and send it to Leo for summarization, expansion, or clarification
  • Getting Leo’s responses directly within my note-taking workflow

This would be incredibly valuable for students, researchers, writers, and me! I’ve seen similar integrations with other AI assistants, and having this for Leo would be a major plus for me to stick with Brave’s ecosystem.

I’ve encountered a similar challenge in integrating Leo into my workflow. While I appreciate the flexibility Brave has provided through customizable actions, system prompts, and LLM APIs, I’m currently limited by Leo’s inability to load and process multimodal inputs, such as lengthy PDFs, audio, and images. Exposing these APIs would empower users to create custom vector embeddings and RAG systems, aligning with the exciting advancements in Meta’s newly announced LLama 4, which boasts native multimodal capabilities and extended context windows.
