Installation Failure - Installer Cannot Connect to Internet

I’m going through the ritual of getting a new laptop set up and the Brave installer from brave.com/download is failing to connect to the internet.

I can confirm that my device is, in fact, connected to the internet. That’s how I am making this post now.

I installed the standalone from github but every time I opened Brave it kept prompting me to set Brave as my default browser and all that which it was. I uninstalled, but so far it’s the only way I’ve been able to get Brave installed.

The reason I uninstalled the standalone is because I learned that my laptop’s setup didn’t sync the internal clock correctly and it was running a couple minutes slow. This has since been resolved. But when I tried to install Brave using the installer provided by brave.com/download, the installer still wouldn’t connect.

I disabled all antivirus and vpn. I ran installer as admin. I checked to see if Brave’s update server is down and it’s not. I don’t know what other troubleshooting there is to do.

Thanks.

Sounds familiar; see:

I can't download brave error 112. error code 7:0X80040902:112--system level - #2 by 289wk

I’ll try that but the installer has failed to connect ever since I attempted to install Brave on a brand new out of the box laptop.

In other words, there was no pre-existing installation of Brave.

So I don’t know what’s wrong with the installer available from brave.com/download but I installed Brave through the Microsoft Store and it function’s swimmingly.

It’s not even prompting me to set Brave as my default browser and all that rigmarole every time I open it anymore.

So issue resolved.
