Image Cache Preventing Site Access

Description of the issue:
Certain websites do not load - ever - after the latest Brave update. Regardless of Shield(s) status. The only way to fix it is to ctrl+shift+del and clear the image cache. Then the websites load perfectly fine. But after 30 mins use or so, the image cache then fills back up (227mb) and the sites refuse to load. This happens across a lot of sites, but Twitter and Discord are two major ones. Showing “We have an issue with connectivity”. These sites all work perfectly fine in Chrome and other browsers, and clearing the Image Cache works every time (temporarily)

A couple of ideas . . .

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • ‘brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fx.com’
  • ‘brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fdiscord.com’

Consider, resetting site specific permissions / deleting site specific data for websites:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN
