Hi,
I would like ask you if there is finally easy way how to disable auto-updates for Brave.
I found a year old topic about it and it says “there is no way for it” - How can I stop automatic updates?
Anyway, if there is no way how to disable auto-updates, I will go for another browser. I left Chrome exactly for same a reason - auto-updates.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Nope, all Chromium based browsers have no easy way to disable. It all requires changing things in registry, blocking internet connections, or other such things. Even that isn’t guaranteed to stop it. About the only way to guarantee it doesn’t automatically update is to use an outdated operating system.
Thank you.
It sounds like Chromium is more spyware then browser.
Anyway, thanks again.
So I tried to delete automatic tasks according to this tutorial - https://superuser.com/a/1788309
However, no change. Brave is still doing auto update. It’s time to hit uninstall button and go back to Firefox.
Solved
You need to block updates.bravesoftware.com (url got from Wireshark) in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Like this
127.0.0.1 updates.bravesoftware.com
It will show code error 7: 0X80072EFD – system level in Help –> About because of attempt of getting respond from blocked url.
Not working.
There is some deeper access in the core to updates which is completely independent on “official” update in Help –> About .
Time to classified Brave as spyware.
