Horrible performance in day-to-day mobile browser tasks

Brave Mobile App Version 1.95 (104)

iPhone 16 iOS 27

Not really sure where to begin as this is not a specific piece of feedback or bug report. It is more so a report of my genuine surprise at just how poorly performing Brave browser is on mobile. I’ve only recently started using Brave as my primary mobile browser because I was frustrated with the performance issues of Safari, which surprisingly are less than the performance issues I’ve discovered with Brave, so I will be undoing that change here shortly. However, I have used Brave for many years in desktop and I found its performance to be far superior than it’s mobile version.

I have experienced the following issues at least once, many of these multiple times. while using Brave as my primary mobile browser:

  • Web pages simply not loading on Brave. The same URL copy and pasted into another browser works fine. (There are not any settings or shields enabled that should impact this and even reducing all security features to lowest settings, it still didn’t work)
  • Search functions and look up functions failing, not due to incorrect information being provided, but simply because it’s brave. Switched over to another browser and typed in the exact same confirmation number and name information on delta.com to pull up my itinerary and it works perfectly. Cannot get it to work on Brave
  • Downloads failing. They either just won’t download or they download but they’re one KB of nothing. Again, I take the exact same link to another browser. click on download, and I have the full file.
  • Built-in web applets on sites not working, again, works fine on any other browser
  • Login not working (not incorrect information errors, just will not complete the login process)

To be clear, I am not really asking for troubleshooting here because I know that I’m not providing detailed enough information for anyone to reproduce or troubleshoot these things, this is mostly feedback. I just am really, really surprised to see that Brave mobile browser has this many bugs and issues performing very normal routine tasks on mobile, so much so that I find it to be unusable as the primary browser for simple common tasks.

My setup:

  • iPhone 14, iOS 18.7.8
  • Brave Browser v1.95 (104)
  • Private Browsing Only mode Enabled
  • Trackers & Ads Blocking Aggressive
  • Global Shields UP
  • Block scripts Disabled and thus: JavaScript allowed
  • Block All Cookies Disabled
  • Block Fingerprinting Enabled
  • Enable Global Privacy Control Enabled
  • New Tab Page > Background Disabled
  • New Tab Page > Privacy Hub Disabled
  • New Tab Page > Favorites Enabled

No trouble:

I’m glad to see it works for you but seeing as how you’re on a different device and a different OS, I can’t exactly use this information to see if it’s any help, and it doesn’t mean the issues I’m experiencing aren’t actually happening because of Brave

As a matter fact, we have almost identical settings, except my trackers and ads setting is only at standard.

maybe you just didn’t include some of the other settings, but on my app there are a lot more settings than this to go through.

There, I selected the latest Brave Browser stable release version 1.96.61 ← clicked on that. Result: Brave GitHub page.

There, scrolled down to and started download of 320MB file: Brave-Browser-universal.dmg

Screenshot of the downloading - near the finish:

Downloading finished, and file in Downloads folder of Brave folder of the iPhone’s Files.app > Browse > … structure:

Uh-huh… i’m sorry but what is your point? I’m very happy for you that it’s working on your device, but my report is for a different device and a different OS. At this point, you’re kind of just showing off that yours works and mine doesn’t. It’s not actually helping. Congratulations on all your success, this doesn’t change the fact that it’s very much different for my setup.

You keep saying “there“ like you’ve just proven me wrong or something but you haven’t. I never said these were universal problems for everyone.

Brave Support likes to know what is working and what is not working.

Also I can see how it might suggest it, but my post does not explicitly state that all downloads fail. It’s probably about 50% of the time and it depends on the file type. I didn’t include these levels of detail because this is not a troubleshooting post aka I’m not asking anyone to solve this for me, and without more detailed information, they wouldn’t be able to effectively help any way. So what are you trying to do? Help me? Or “prove me wrong”?

Yes, your screenshots of you downloading something on Brave browser with a completely different device and operating system version tells them a lot, I’m sure. You’re clearly posting for no one’s benefit but your own. Just stop.
