Description
Each day, I log in several Gmail accounts, and I log out at the end of the day.
Since May, there have been daily issues when logging in with Brave (not with any Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) in at least one of the accounts, sometimes more.
What is expected
- First account
- Open the Gmail login page (http://mail.google.com/)
- Choose an account
I’m expecting to see the password form:
- Additional account (after the first login):
- Open Gmail
- Click on the avatar (top right)
- select another account and click Sign In
There, I’m expecting the page below, and after clicking Next, the password form above.
What happens instead
What I often get instead is this:
Additional information
- When it’s the first account, one must reload the initial Gmail page.
- When it’s an additional account, it’s sometimes possible to get back, reload the page, and try again.
Sometimes, it takes several attempts before the password forms appears.
The problem appeared suddenly. Then it disappeared as suddenly when the bug “Users being logged out of sites” appeared for me, in September. It reappeared shortly after that other bug was fixed.
A bug issue has been created on GitHub (but has been ignored): https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/46876
I frequently tried to reproduce this problem with other browsers but never could. I never saw this bug before May on Brave, either.
I contacted the support at Google, but they couldn’t help since Brave isn’t supported. They claimed they hadn’t changed anything.
Brave Version
Current version: Brave 1.83.112 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 141.0.7390.70
First version when the bug was observed: version 1.79.118 x64
OS (on different PCs):
- Windows 10 x64 22H2, Linux
- Linux Manjaro, 6.12.20-2-MANJARO, x86_64
No plugins, no shields, also tested with a fresh installation of Brave on both Windows and Linux.
It would be nice not to be ignored again.
