Same, also Pop Os, same versions. Happened just now due to latest update. Makes some websites really unusable.

same here.

Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS 6.16.3-76061603
Brave 1.82.166 (64-Bit) .deb Package 140.0.7339.133

Workaround:

Install “Gnome Tweaks” go to “Fonts” and change “Interface Text” font to e.g. “Noto Sans Regular” (Previously, Fire Sans Book was set for me)

Restart Brave and see if this helps.

Figured it happens in Chrome too. So, probably something with the underlying Chromium version being updated?

same here on Pop_OS!

I’m glad to hear that I obviously didn’t screw this up myself.

Same here on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS with all the latest updates…

Today I came across a website that was rendered with this wonky font. So it’s not just a problem with the GUI/menu font.

Same here, also on Pop!_OS. Surprised to find so many Pop! users here. Makes me wonder if it’s doing this on other Debian/Ubuntu-based flavors?

This worked for me!
Also Pop!_OS, also up to date, also same screwy font that is impossible to describe - was driving me crazy. Changing Interface font in Tweaks fixed it after restart.

Thank you! This worked for me as well.

I have the same issue, for me it is on Fedora 42. This happened after updating the Brave to 1.82.170 fro 1.80.120 where it was still fine. Unfortunately the workaround with Gnome Tweaks does not seem to work here.

I would like to echo the same issue with Brave on Pop_OS! The Gnome Tweaks worked for me after I restarted Brave however that only lasted until the next reboot. I’m back to a font that I can no longer read. The teak doesn’t seem to work anymore either.

has there been a solution? i have the same issue also on pop

No Solution yet, and the issue is neither limited to Pop nor is it a Brave only bug. It was introduced in Chromium, which Brave is built on, and is waiting for them to fix it. There are some work arounds, but for me the only fix was to downgrade.

The bug report which you can follow is here

Upgrading to version 1.83.112 has fixed it for me.
