Flickering/vibrating on Youtube pages

Description of the issue: flickering of different screen areas on the Youtube pages
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Click on any YT video (NOT in Shorts)

  2. Start to scroll down, and suddenly, parts of the comments start to flicker. The flickering is a quick up&down vibration of the affected area, and not just any random part of the screen, but only the text. Scroll down even more, the flickering goes to the right side, to the recommendations. Fully random. My other browsers don’t do this, just Brave since the .118 update. Hardware acceleration doesn’t matter; it’s the same in ON/OFF settings.

Expected result: vibration free Comments and recommended videos sections.

Brave Version( check About Brave): latest .118

Additional Information: -

Additional info: it does vibrate on the Shorts’s comments sections too - looks like I didn’t scroll down enough to experience it. It looks like normal at first; you scroll, the comments come up, scroll more, then a few comments do the vibro-dance, others are not. Scroll a bit more down, then the scrollbar slider starts vibrating…

Another “interesting” developments in the story: now I can scroll down further before the up&down vibration starts… Aaaand, some of the opened YT pages render totally false. In these cases the pages look like this: the player window is normal (theater mode for me). Underneath the title/description of the video is aligned to the middle, then the recommended Shorts are at the left, then come the normal recommended videos aligned to the middle of the screen with FULL SCREEN THUMBNAILS (!), and when you scroll all the way down, underneath them you can finally find the comments.

This page rendering is totally random; its logic is beyond me. Some of the pages appear like that after clicking on a video, some are initially normal, then if I click on another video and when I eventually go back to the previous page, the page renders erroneously.

All my other browsers (Opera, Edge, Mullvad, FF) work as usual. Here is the screenshot:

brave://settings system turn of acceleration works but then everythinging is slow for me

That switch makes no difference for me. The vibration happens anyway.

However, I noticed that when I try to open a vibrating comment’s Read more section and I actually can hit the link, and the message opens, the vibration stops.

BTW, the vibration starts slow recently, then accelerates to a very fast frequency.

Happening to me too. I have tried every possible fix I have found online, and nothing has worked.

I think a good place to start with this sort of thing is here (just to be safe, it looks like some of you have already done so or tried):

  1. Update Brave to latest version
  2. Update OS (check for updates, etc) to latest version
  3. Update GPU / driver

Also extremely useful to know:

  • Do you have anything at all under brave://flags/ set as enabled / not default?
  • Does the same thing happen if/when you use Chrome (or other Chromium-based browsers?)

Also, Does the below GitHub Issue describe your issue as well? Maybe read through the post and comments there and see/confirm, and if it is and you also have a GitHub account yourself maybe add to it.

As helpful as Graphic Acceleration is, it can sometimes lead to problems so: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/wiki/GPU-issues---incident-reports

in the above wiki it says @clifton so… I’m not bugging Mattches for once :face_with_hand_over_mouth:.
