Dear Brave Team,
I am writing to share a feature request regarding the Side Panel functionality in Brave Browser.
Currently, when I click on an app or shortcut in the Side Panel, it replaces my current active tab. This is quite disruptive, as it forces me to leave my current page to view the Side Panel content, and I have to navigate back manually to resume what I was doing.
I would love to see Brave implement a “floating window” or overlay mode for the Side Panel, similar to the functionality found in Opera GX. In that setup, clicking an app opens a dedicated, draggable floating window without closing or shifting the current tab.
This would allow users to multitask more efficiently, keeping the current page visible while interacting with tools (like Spotify, Discord, or news feeds) in a separate, non-intrusive floating window.
I believe this change would significantly improve the workflow for power users who rely on the Side Panel for quick access to multiple services.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to develop a privacy-focused browser.
Best regards,
