Description of the issue:
I have a custom scriptlet added to Settings > Shields > Content Filtering > Custom Scriptlets.
Whenever I Delete Browsing Data, this custom scriptlet will be deleted as well, despite in the Delete Browsing Data dialog the Site and Shield Settings checkbox in not checked. So every time I clear browsing data, I have to copy/paste the scriptlet.
Right above the Custom Scriptlets, the Create Custom Filters section is not cleared when I Delete Browsing Data, so I don’t understand why the scriptlets are cleared. They shouldn’t be.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Create and add a custom scriptlet to Settings > Shields > Content Filtering > Custom Scriptlets
Make sure to give it a name and save it
Now clear browsing data. When you clear browsing data, select the Advanced tab, for Time Range select All Time from the dropdown, and make sure the Site and Shield Settings checkbox is NOT selected.
Your Custom Scriptlet will be deleted.
Expected result:
The Custom Scriptlet should not be deleted since Site and Shield Settings are unchecked in the Delete Browsing Data dialog.
Thank you for reporting on this – afaik this should not be included when deleting your data in this way (unless the box is checked, obviously). Let me see if I can reproduce this. Can you please confirm what OS you’re using at this time??
Thanks for the information. Might be something going on here because on my end right now I can’t even add scriplets in macOS – clicking on Save doesn’t seem to save it. Worked as expected in Win11.
Yes, that is another issue. Once you add a custom scriptlet, you need to hit “Save Changes” - which is a button above for “Create custom filters”. Then your custom scriptlet will show up.
Wait. No. I think what it was is, you need to click the “Developer Mode” switch. Toggle it on/off and then the scriptlet will show up. Well, one of these Definitely something is not right.
Unfortunately, this has not been resolved. Running Brave 1.81.135 (Official Build) (x86_64) and the custom scriptlet still gets deleted. It does not get deleted when I clear caches and/or cookies (or at least not most of the time) but something makes the scriptlet disappear. I think new update might also delete it.
I don’t remember when was the last update for Brave but I just opened my browser, I did not clear the cookies/cache and the scriptlet was gone.
Furthermore, the issue still exists where I am not able to add scriptlet unless I turn the “Developer Mode” switch on and off.
