Brave repeatedly closes/crashes while I am watching YouTube videos on an Android 11 onn tablet.
The problem was occurring on Brave 1.93.136 and continued after updating to Brave 1.93.138. On August 24, 2026, Brave closed approximately 4 times in about 3 hours of watching YouTube videos.
I have also recently noticed intermittent flickering around the outer portion of the screen/video area while watching YouTube. The flickering does not occur constantly.
Crash reporting
Opening brave://crashes shows:
“Crashes (0)”
“You have no recently reported crashes. Crashes that occurred when crash reporting was disabled will not appear here.”
Therefore there are no crash IDs available even though Brave has repeatedly closed during use.
Steps to reproduce
Open Brave on the Android 11 tablet.
Go to YouTube.
Watch videos normally for an extended period.
Brave eventually closes unexpectedly.
At other times during YouTube playback, intermittent screen/edge flickering can be seen.
Frequency
Approximately 4 closures in 3 hours during one recent viewing session. The problem has occurred across more than one Brave version.
Expected result
YouTube videos should play continuously without Brave closing and without display flickering.
Update: The problem is not limited to YouTube/video playback.
While I was simply reading a ChatGPT webpage in Brave, Brave suddenly closed and returned me to the Android desktop/home screen. The tablet then went to the lock screen.
No YouTube video was playing at the time.
This occurred on Brave 1.93.138 on my Android 11 onn tablet.

Have you been a past Firefox? User by chance.?? Because there was an issue we were working on with Samsung. I was working with the developers there and we found out that a lot of the experimental features that they do with scripting, and javascript was messing with the encoder, and the utc offset when you do a lot of their experimental features and that’s what’s causing the screen to flash on a lot of Samsung’s.
