This has happened for over the past couple years, I changed browsers, but I don’t want to. I came back, and the issue still isn’t fixed.
I added a keyboard shortcut to “Copy” as Ctrl + C and “Paste” as Ctrl + V. As it wasn’t automatically there for some reason. When I try to execute ANY of them, it doesn’t work and simply crashes.
I even went far to add this function into my mouse, it doesn’t work for any of them, copy nor paste.
I have to right-click the text and copy/paste, every single time because this doesn’t work.
How do I fix?
Edit: Okay, so I managed to fix it. All I had to do was just to not put any custom key binds. Turns out they were already functional without adding them. I don’t really know why it crashes, but it’s okay now.

What OS and Brave version are you using when you encounter this issue? Additionally, is this issue occurring on a fresh browser install?
I do not see this issue on macOS, Windows (10/11) or Linux systems in the latest Brave stable build. Copy/paste using the default Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V keyboard shortcuts works as expected by default. You shouldn’t have to use any custom shortcuts to get this to work.
The troubling bit for me seems to be that the keyboard shortcut wasn’t automatically displayed in the shortcuts menu for you. On my end, the Copy shortcut already had the expected shortcut listed. Further, just to test, I went ahead and added an additional command for Copy and this also works for me without issue (note that I’m using macOS in this screenshot but this is the same for me on Windows as well):
