Clicking the Back button on Logitech MX Ergo Goes back two pages

I’ve been using Brave for quite awhile now and the entire time, when I click the back button on my trackball, the browser goes back two pages instead of one. This only happens in the Brave browser and not in Chrome, Opera, nor Firefox. Has anyone encountered this issue?

Very strange. I’m currently using a Logitech MX Vertical mouse right now and don’t have this issue. You don’t have any custom app controls enabled via Logitech software?

No, I don’t even have any tweaks to the functions in the Logitech Software. Everything is set to default. The strangest part to me is that it doesn’t happen in other browsers that use Chromium.

Yeah that is really strange. Perhaps there’s an extension installed that might be causing this behavior? Although if I’m being honest I don’t think that’s it (worth testing though).

Can you try downloading the Beta build of the browser and see if you get the same behavior when clicking the back button in the Beta?

To add to the oddness, I just installed Brave on my work laptop and don’t have the issue with my MX Ergo at my office desk. I’ll try the Beta Build when I’m back at my home desktop. And thank you for the help so far.

So today I tried

  1. Disabling each extension individually
  2. The beta version of Brave

Unfortunately I’m still getting this behavior. I noticed this morning because I was watching closely that I can see it pass through the first page sometimes.

I honestly have no idea what would be causing this then – especially if it’s happening in Beta as well. Let me reach out to some team members and see if they have any input on this.

This doesn’t seem likely since it’s only happening in Brave but I’m wondering if there is a physical issue with the back button on my trackball. On Tuesday I’m going to bring my office trackball home and see if the issue persists with it as well.

I would be interested in knowing that as well. Just to confirm, this happens on every single site (in Brave)? I’m curious if Shields – specifically the “block fingerprinting” protection might be causing this. That is something you can try – disabling the Fingerprinting protections and test to see if the issue persists.
