Can't reposition tabs, vertical tabs, when tabs bar hides completely when minimized

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. turn on vertical tabs

  2. check the option “Hide completely when minimized” option in the “tabs” section in “appearances” in settings.

  3. now the tabs bar is hidden, and only comes out when hovered near it.

  4. open a few tabs and try to reposition a tab.

Expected result: we should be able to reposition any tab in the list, by making the tabs bar not hide as long as we are holding a tab.

Brave Version: 1.96.60

Additional Information: when we want to change position of a tab, by drag and drop, like moving a tab from the last to the first place, when we click and hold a tab, the tabs bar hides, and the tab that was held, now becomes a separate window, with no way to put it back in the existing window or reposition any of the tabs.

@kapilbhadu not seeing this issue on my end. When vertical tabs are set to be completely hidden (and shown on hover), I can still reposition the tabs:

Am I performing the correct steps here?

@Mattches You are performing correct steps, but this exact thing breaks in my case. I have no idea why.

it looks like you are using macos, i am using ubuntu.
you can see it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AklrRUTdVBaeRaMM1dfOa3A8BW4bffgh/view?usp=sharing

Just to clarify, if you drag that tab back over where the strip is (even if it’s hidden), it should pop-out and allow you to drop the tab back into it. It doesn’t look like you tried putting the tab back once tearing it off in your recording.

no that is also not working, its really broken.

at the end the tab was half broken.

and before this, the browser just crashed attempting this, and the tab was invisible from the tab list, it’s space was empty, and i couldn’t switch back to that tab once i changed the tab, that wasn’t recorded but there is some problem.

it definitely doesn’t work as it worked in your video.

the main problem is that the tabs stripe collapses as soon as i grab the tab, and then the tab comes out because its grabbed and its out of the tabs stripe.

Can you please tell me what distro you’re using? Running GTK?

yes, heres the info:
