Can't move tabs without opening new window (mobile)

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:

Opening multiple tabs on Samsung Galaxy Tab. On Galaxy Tab S6, I merely long press the tab and slide it left or right and let it go. (It does give me a menu to move the tab to another group or window, etc., but I can ignore it.) On Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ however this seems impossible–if I long press I get the menu, but the moment I try to move the tab left or right, it tries instead to open a new window. It literally will not let me move the tab’s position; the screen blurs and it asks me to drop the tab to open full screen, then if I move it left or right and try to drop it there, it just reopens back where it was. If I move up I just get screen blur, if I move down it creates a new window. I can never move it to the side and change tab order.

I don’t want to open new windows, ever. Why can I just not move tabs like I can on my older tablet?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Long press tab, try to slide left or right to change position.

Expected result:

Tab either opens in a new window or stays where it is.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

1.80.115, Chromium 138.0.7204.97

Mobile Device details

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+, Android 15, Build/AP3A.240905.015.A2

Additional Information:

My older tablet appears to be running an older version of Brave (1.80.113). I really hope any update won’t mess up this feature on my old tablet, too! I move tabs a lot, I don’t want to open them in new windows, why won’t it work?

(EDIT, it has nothing to do with how carefully I move the tab left or right, either. Very carefully sliding it left or right, not up/down, just blurs the screen and brings the prompt to drop it. The other tabs blur and if I try to drop the open tab directly where I want it rather than in the middle of the screen, it just reopens where it already is. Literally no option to move left/right.)

(EDIT, good Lord!–and all those accidental new windows I closed never closed at all. When I hit the button to show all open apps I had like 6-7 open instances of Brave!)

Guess I’ll just have to use a different browser. :confused: The two others I tried on the new tablet don’t have this issue, so it’s connected to Brave. I’m going to hate when it updates on my old tablet…
