Can't link Brave Wallet to Rewards - "Something went wrong" / "Provided owner is not allowed

Hi, I’ve been trying to link my Brave Wallet to Brave Rewards for self-custody and keep getting errors.

What I tried:

  • First tried with Phantom wallet → got “Provided owner is not allowed” (-32002)
  • Uninstalled Phantom, created a new native Brave Wallet Solana account (“Solana BAT”, address 87iBdyYKiEndmbq9wAj7ELLa…)
  • Sent SOL to that address to cover fees
  • Still getting “Something went wrong - couldn’t finalize the connection”

Details:

  • Brave version: [ponés tu versión, la ves en brave://settings/help]
  • OS: Windows
  • No Phantom or other wallet extensions installed
  • SOL balance confirmed in the new wallet

I previously had Uphold but my account was blocked. I’m trying to switch to self-custody. The BAT rewards keep accumulating (81 ads this month) but I can’t link any wallet.

Any help appreciated.

Have you previously connected Rewards to this Solana address? If so, you may have hit the device limit for this particular SOL address.

Please try resetting your Rewards profile or using a new Solana address to resolve the issue.
