Some additional information, since the required permissions may raise eyebrows:
The developer is known to be reliable. Nonetheless, I inquired about the permissions. His reply directed me to information posted at Github by a co-developer that explained why the permissions are required:
[quote on]
Read/Change data: without this permission it is not possible to replace the open tab, which is essential to use the ‘suspended.html’.
Read / Change History: see above (and remember that the Session Manager is also involved in this case).
View/Manage Tab Groups: only way we have to - from the next version of TMS - be able to migrate Google Chrome’s native Tab Groups as well, without losing them (so that suspended tabs contained in Tab Groups can continue to remain suspended correctly).
Consider that this is simply the migration to MV3, which requires “slightly” (not even so slightly) different permissions than we used to have with MV2. TMS is and will continue to remain secure, data does not leave your PC and profile.
@289wk This pop-up is appearing when I switch from Profile 1 to Profile 2.
I do not see any actual effect on the extension’s functionality in Profile1 (the only profile in which I use it) but am wondering why Brave is objecting to it, since it is not actually disabled.
Also wondering how to disable the error message, if you or @mattches know.
@mk7z my guess is because it changed from MV2 to MV3. When they changed which API and everything is used for the extension then that changed its permissions.
So I’m guessing the extension store through Google is trying to give you a heads up and make sure that you are aware that there were changes made
If you click enable then it should not appear anymore, right? At least not for that exact profile. I’m just doubling down and making sure because it looks to be a different prompt than the one you’re initially talked about.
