Bug Report: Programs opening links in Brave leads to Brave self deleting passwords and cookies

Description of the issue: For some reason, whenever you have Brave Browser closed, and an external program opens up links to Brave Browser, the browser will immediately remove all cookies and passwords.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Download or create an external program and make it open up links or tabs in Brave Browser.

Expected result: Brave will now delete all of its cookies and passwords in the Brave password manager and cookies.

Brave Version( check About Brave):v1.82.170

Additional Information: I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but I have gotten my browser cookies and passwords deleted several times before finally realizing and confirming it.

This seems to me like it is either an extension issue or you perhaps have Brave set to delete your data “on exit”. Can you please check and ensure that nether of those are he case? On my end, opening links in other apps works as expected and not data is deleted. Here’s a short recording I made on my test machine:
