Just a few quick questions regarding Brave Nightly.
Does this version of the Brave browser automatically update on its own? Also, does Nightly automatically send usage information, crash reports/analytics that cannot be turned off?
I was looking on the Brave website but there wasnt all that much info other than there being a new version that is released every night and that there certain features might not work properly and cause data loss.
Is there a list of these new features that are being worked on within the Nightly builds?
Guess let me answer as best I can as another user.
On Android? No, not unless you have it set to automatically update via Google Play.
No. Brave has the options to disable this on all versions. That said, I would highly suggest you have it enabled as it gives them more information needed to correct any issues before it reaches the Release/Stable version of Brave.
Not that I’m aware of. At least there’s no simple centralized list. A lot of how a person would track would be via project updates on Github or feedback here on random posts. The changelog for things being added or removed only applies for the Stable version of Brave rather than Beta or Nightly. And even then, those usually don’t show everything.
Also there are a lot of times things are added to Nightly but are still hidden under brave://flags.
Thank you for your responses. I appreciate the information. I was just curious as I’ve been using a nightly version on one of my devices for awhile now and I have not updated it in awhile and everything has been working great with it. In fact I don’t believe I have had an issue with it at all. Aside from clicking on a reddit link and it always wanting to open in the latest release stable version of Brave. I would chalk that up to that is what I have set as my default browser and I did have to allow app links awhile ago so that can all be fixed but I did forget that I changed those settings and have recently changed them back.
