Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.
**Description of the issue:
App is totally unusable all of a sudden. It simply crashes out, two seconds in, every time. So I went to look at its status on the app store, and I see it is no longer compatible. But is this true? I would have at least liked to import my data, bookmarks, etc. before this happened.
How can this issue be reproduced?
On activation…
**Expected result: Working/functionality
**Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.60.125
Mobile Device details
Galaxy J3 Prime
Android version: 7.0
Same here, everything was working fine until a few days ago. I uninstalled it to try a fresh install and see if that would fix it, but then it said no longer compatible with my device. I was pretty upset because the video playback feature is the reason I use Brave.
But since being forced onto another Browser I found out that the video playback feature is available as an extension for other browsers now. So I will be switching all my browsers away from Brave at this time. Even on my desktop Brave has been failing cloudfire bot checks when firefox or google does them effortlessly. I was sad at first, but it all turned out for the better.
Thanks, but in my case I rebooted the device and unfortunately got the same problem.
What do you mean by updating the lists? Any way to force that on Android?
By the way, since neither Android OS nor Brave received updates recently, probably this is Google up to their old tricks. Not sure if related, but Google Play Services DID update recently, to 25.18.33.
Details:
Android: 7.1.1.
Brave: 1.60.125.
Google Play Services: 25.18.33.
Unfortunate; it worked without a hitch just a few days ago. I guess I’ll have to switch browser (which is a pain as Brave is my favorite by far). Thanks for the confirmation anyway.
Apologies for the inconvenience. Worth noting that this change is simply us keeping in line with the Chromium minimum OS requirements – you’ll likely see the same issue when using other Chromium based browsers on Android.
Thanks, fair warning. For now, a couple of alternatives still work. I hope they don’t pull the plug.
Quite concerning now, since the landscape is fully Chromium-dominated and I don’t fancy changing perfectly functional devices. I guess this is to be expected from Android/Chromium or any environment remotely affiliated with Google (and that includes Mozilla).
Can the fix be somehow installed, through an available apk somewhere?
How can I ensure that the open sites won’t get deleted while reinstalling? What files would I have to backup?
And same problem over here, there was another thread about this problem. “Brave keeps stopping”, just suddenly, 2 days ago in the morning.
It would be helpful, if you could tell us how to update these ‘lists’ (and what it is).
I can confirm that reinstalling as per the above instructions fixes the issue without data loss of any kind.
Fair warning about being an unsupported version, and thanks for giving us the option of a fixed build to use at our own risk (or get our data out, at the very least).
Thank you very much for the quick response. Great support as always.
Perhaps you could try updating Brave by going to the Brave Settings, go right down to the end of the list until you see “About Brave” just click that and it will update to the version you need or should have. This is just a suggestion which some people don’t know about. I hope it’s right for you, good luck.
