Brave just deleted about everything such as my passwords in the password manager, all the secondary profiles I had, all of the logins, why did this happen? I am using windows 11 and the latest version to my knowledge
My main problem is the profiles that has been deleted
Before doing more changes, I’d first copy the whole Brave user data folder somewhere safe. On Windows it is usually under %LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data. Then check if the old profile folders are still there, like Default, Profile 1, Profile 2, etc. If those folders still exist, Brave may simply have opened a fresh profile or lost the local state that points to them. If they are gone too, I’d look at Windows File History/backup or any “Previous versions” restore point for that folder, because reinstalling or syncing again can make recovery harder.
They are all there but how do I get to them? Why did this happen in the first place?
@37f09def85c7e39bec81 can you please confirm which Operating System and Brave version you’re using when this occurred? Additionally, did you have Brave Sync enabled when this happened?
I am on Windows 11 and my current Brave version is 1.91.175 Chromium: 149.0.7827.155 (Official Build) (64-bit), this happend after my PC said I shutdown incorrectly and Brave also said I shutdown incorrectly, I had my main profile with bookmarks and such but no other profiles or passwords
Did you have Brave Sync enabled at the time this issue occurred?
I am not sure about that, not sure how to check it either, sorry for the delayed replies
The improper shutdown definitely did it. If those profile folders are still there, the good news is your data’s probably fine — Brave just can’t find them anymore. Getting access back might be tricky though.
