Brave is the WORST browser

Brave is hands down the WORST browser I’ve ever used, EVER! Whoever is developing this browser is wasting eveyone’s time. The browser is slow, incomplete, and the search results are a joke, not to mention extremely censored! This project should go away and never come back… good riddance!!!

Seems fast to me.

If you’re going to make an account and go through all that trouble just to say you aren’t going to use it, let’s be real, you’re just looking for a fight, and you ain’t getting it.

I love Brave, but the irony of this is not lost on me

@Dan33185 hmm? His video plays on my end. Not sure what you’d have going on different with your device.

Simple HEVC 8bpc. As long as GPU acceleration is enabled and working, it should play just fine.

Ah, that’s the problem, I have it turned off, I’ve found it uses too much memory in my case.

Correct, if you use a system with an integrated GPU and your RAM is running in UMA, it will indeed use RAM, but only for the video RAM. It honestly helps the CPU not bare the load of decoding video (hence HEVC won’t even try even if CPU’s are fast enough now to do it), but also store contents of the page in video RAM so scrolling is smoother, or more advance operations such as HDR, WebGL/GPU, etc.

If you have a discrete GPU, it actually shouldn’t be using more RAM, as the memory usage would only increase on the graphics side. That actually could be worth diagnosing. I did notice your playback controls are different than Brave on Windows, as it’d look like:

Since I am a Linux user as well (since 1999, but only as a VM since 2019), I recognized that bar immediately.

Ironically, since a VM is software rendered (no GPU acceleration on Wayland with any of VirtualBoxe’s “GPU” accelerated controllers), you guessed it, and it’s why I knew your error immediately and the cause.
