Brave is not saving website login details

hi guy i take it this password manager not working is something we just have to live with?

@Mattches someone had initially marked a solution on this topic. Not sure if was OP, you, or me. Regardless, they seem to have responded without us realizing and then created a new topic that I just merged back over here. Not sure if you can circle back and help, especially reviewing what was said and done before.

@jasonv please make sure to check through and provide some recent details as well.

  • Which version of Brave?

  • Is it still Windows 10 or have you upgraded?

@jasonv,
The password manager is working as intended — I just used it a moment ago. This means that the issue you’re experiencing is somehow related to your system and/or browser profile.

Can you please clarify exactly what you meant here?

In the post before this one, you stated that simply applying the latest updates to the browser fixed the issue, but then it reappeared after installing something Google related? If you can please clarify, that would be helpful.

Additionally, I’m assuming that since the first test that @Saoiray suggested worked, you didn’t try the other ones mentioned in that reply. I would be interested to know if this behavior occurs in a fresh, untouched browser profile. Can you please try performing the second test @Saoiray suggests here:

Thank you

Version 1.63.165 Chromium: 122.0.6261.94 (Official Build) (64-bit)

this install is on a fresh install of Windows 10 as well . .The password manager just does not work .Not only does it not work, the manual logins ive added to it have also just disappeared . I added 6 manually. It worked great for about 3 or 4 days but then it just stopped working and 5 of the 6 i manually saved are gone all together . Got no idea where they disappeared to and why one of them is still there but 5 of them have dissappeared

So you’re seeing this behavior on a fresh version of Brave without browsing data/profile data?

Yip , this password manager just doesnt work . i was prepared to load them manually but not even that works ,m it loses half the logins after a day or two

@jasonv,
I’ve opened this issue for you but it’s worth mentioning that nobody can reproduce this issue on our end as there are no exact steps to reproduce it.

Do you by chance have any software on your machine that regularly runs/clears data — something like ccleaner for example?

Additionally, do you currently have a password set to log into your OS?

i got privazer that i run from time to time , only manual . and yes i got a user login as an admin user

but it does not save the login . EG when ON A SITE AND THE SAVING OPTION COMES UP YOU SELECT SAVE AND THEN GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE PASSWORD MANAGER , its not there
Abd also you manually add it , you even have to use your windows login pin . it will then save irt for several days and then it will just dissappear

In that case, other than Privazer somehow having an effect here we’ll have to wait until we get some more eyes on the issue above. There is no obvious reason that I can see why this is happening on your end given everything discussed in this thread.

Hope to have more information for you soon.

ok thats honest enough thanks ill plod along with it , . it is very annoying .

You can perform another test if you’d like — @Saoiray mentioned earlier trying to download the Beta build of the browser and testing the behavior there. I would be interested to know if you see the same behavior there as well.
