Hi, I’m using Brave on Android. Downloads work fine with Wi-Fi or my own mobile data. But when I use shared mobile data (via hotspot), downloads start normally but eventually stop on their own, especially with large files like APKs (e.g. 344 MB).
I don’t have battery saver or data saver enabled. Videos stream fine, but downloads freeze and never complete. This doesn’t happen with other browsers.
Device: Samsung Galaxy A15 4G
Android version: Android 15 One UI 7.0
Brave version: [you can add it if you want, from Brave settings]
Is this a bug or something related to how Brave handles downloads on shared networks?
Thanks a lot for your reply. Just to clarify, when I tested this before, Brave already had no background or battery restrictions on my device (Samsung Galaxy A15 4G, Android 7.0 One UI).
The issue only happens when I download large APKs (like 344MB) using a hotspot shared from my mom’s phone. The download stops after around 30–40MB.
But when I use Wi-Fi or my own mobile data, the download works perfectly. I also tested the same download using Opera on the same hotspot, and it completed without issues.
So it seems to be a Brave-specific issue with hotspot connections and big files.
For now, I will use Opera while this is resolved.
I appreciate your help and hope this info helps track down the problem. Brave is still my favorite browser.
