It started happening to me this morning after I had installed a windows update.
Can you try launching Brave via the command line and see if you get any logs - `cd “C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application”
`
i guess Microsoft is pushing its edge as all browsers went to toilet. but at first i tryed to uninstall updates and it did not helpes. as installing new windows whitout few month updates did not helped asvel. anyway i got it working. dev can doublecheck what happens with regs and files when portable version is installed to pc as it fixes the issue and i did not been able to recreate issue. i guess till next time
its just costed to me format c: and reinstalling bunch of programs = time
@edenlt And just to confirm, Chrome is still working as expected?
@edenlt can you say more about how you fixed the issue on your end?
now yes brave, firefox and chrome working
@edenlt @Flamangi @Basically are you using the portable version?
I’m unsure, I downloaded the 64-bit version for windows through “https://brave.com/download/”.
im using the normal browser version. i have the same issue as described above. and if it helps, it started right after I downloaded the newest windows update last night
not really sure, just downloaded off the website
i told like 30mins ago.
issue: all browsers crashing instantly except edge. (windows update uninstall not helping)
my steps:
I downloaded portable version of brave from portapps.io And it fixed issue with everything. chrome, brave and firefox. i deleted portable version of app and reinstalled proper brave. still works
my windows 10 64bit updates are up to date
antivirus is all-ways on
i guess portable version overwrite something, i guess devs can say more about it.
for me, chrome and edge are working, just not Brave, firefox, etc
yeah same, right after the new windows update
It’s still having the same issue after I launch it through cmd.
here’s something interesting. when I go to the %appdata% folder on my PC, the “Brave Software” folder is no longer there.
wait, nvm, im wrong, my eyes just didn’t see it
Sadly, this didn’t fix the issue for me. I get an error after running also Edge and Chrome work fine (I’m unsure about Firefox though).
same. I think this is just windows trying to force chrome or edge on us, because it happened as soon as I did my windows update last night. now I’m getting fed up with Microsoft on not letting us use whatever browser we want
did u installed portable version of brave?b
Yes, I did and I uninstalled the actual version of Brave.
