I would like to report a recurring issue I’ve recently experienced while using Brave Browser.
While browsing in a Private Window, the browser suddenly closed by itself twice without any warning or error message. There was no heavy resource usage or multiple tabs open at the time. It simply shut down unexpectedly.
Additionally, while watching videos on YouTube, I repeatedly received the error message: “Something went wrong.” This happened multiple times during normal playback, and the video would stop loading. Refreshing the page sometimes fixed it temporarily, but the issue kept occurring.
These problems started recently and are affecting normal browsing and video streaming. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue or guide me on possible troubleshooting steps.
@kasalotahmet initially this seems like an extension issue but hard to tell.
Can you please confirm you have any extensions installed and if disabling them makes any difference in this behavior? Additionally, is the Private window issue something that you can reproduce consistently?
Regarding the Private Window issue, I cannot reproduce it consistently. It happened three times, but it occurred randomly without any specific action triggering it.
It may have been one of or the combination of sites you were using when you were browsing. Did it register as an actual crash in brave://crashes? Check that page and see if the dates of any crash reports align with the times that you experienced the issue.
Apologies – I should have specified that the crash report IDs need to be sent first. It looks like you have automatic crash reporting disabled. So can you please click the button underneath each report to send them to us first?
It should then generate a new ID that ends in all 0’s – those are the IDs I need.
I already have automatic sending enabled, but I don’t understand why it didn’t go. I manually clicked “Send Now” for all of them. Could it be that automatic sending didn’t work because they happened while in private mode? Also, the code ending in 0000 hasn’t appeared yet. The status says: ‘Upload requested by user.
Thanks for the reports. Will file these and have our devs review.
Getting full crash reports on iOS its own process – are you seeing the browser crash on iOS too? If so can you please open a new thread in the Browser Support > Mobile Support section with the relevant information?
@kasalotahmet can you tell me how many and which filter lists you have enabled in brave://settings/shields/filters? Additionally, can you tell me how much memory (RAM) your PC has at this time?
