Hi Brave team,
I’m having an issue with Brave Ads on one of my Brave profiles.
System:
- Brave: 1.94.117 (Chromium 152.0.7977.64), Official Build x86_64
- macOS: 15.7.9
- Country: Bangladesh (BD)
- Rewards environment: Production
- Rewards account: Connected to Solana
The important thing is that I have another Brave profile on the same Mac, using the same Brave installation and network, and that profile receives notification ads normally.
Affected profile:
- New Tab Page Ads: true
- Notification Ads: true
- Search Result Ads: false
- Catalog is present
- Catalog last updated: 8:54:13 PM
- Last unidle time: 8:56:20 PM
The affected profile’s verbose Rewards/Ads log repeatedly shows:
User was inactive
New tab page ad not served: Not allowed due to permission rules
Working profile:
- New Tab Page Ads: true
- Notification Ads: true
- Search Result Ads: true
- Catalog last updated: 9:04:02 PM
- Last unidle time: 9:08:40 PM
The working profile is currently receiving notification ads normally, while the affected profile is not.
This makes me think the issue is specific to the affected profile’s Brave Ads state or permission rules rather than a network, country, macOS notification, or general Brave Ads availability issue.
I also noticed that the Brave Rewards Log page itself doesn’t show entries on the affected profile even when verbose mode is enabled.
I have not reset Brave Rewards or disconnected my payout account because I don’t want to risk affecting my existing Rewards setup.
Could you please help me determine why the affected profile’s Ads service is rejecting ads with “Not allowed due to permission rules”?
I can provide additional sanitized diagnostic logs if needed.
I have intentionally omitted the Device ID, Catalog ID, payment information, and Solana address from this post for privacy.
