That’s a Chromium thing, not a Brave thing.
Edge re-wrote the extension page thus it doesn’t have it, but Chrome, Chromium and Brave do since they didn’t rewrite this page.
The popup blocks me from clicking the button for a few seconds, and then it shifts to the left. does it do that to you?
No, it never is over the toggle. Actually I see that now in your screenshot, it’s over the toggle unlike mine.
You are at brave://extensions/ right? Because yours doesn’t look like mine in the small sliver of a screenshot that I can see.
For example, on yours I see on the left “On”, but I do not have anything like that here.
What computer/device is this? Operating system? Brave version? Gonna need a bit more information at this point since I think your screen looks different to mine, and we may not be on the same page at all (a different device, different interface, for example).
My screenshot is from the page you get after clicking the “Details” button on brave://extensions.
I did some digging; it turns out this issue only occurs when I click on the bookmark link for the extension details.
I have some extensions that I rarely use, so I have the link for the details page bookmarked for quick access
Actually, I was able to reproduce, then I wasn’t. I followed simply going to details, and on the first launch of details, the text was indeed over the button, then it shifted left exactly as you stated. (I never went into details so I never actually been that deep into extensions myself, hence I wasn’t entirely familiar with where you were).
Then it seems until I closed that tab, and went back into Extensions > Details, it does it again:
Predictably I might add.
So I checked Chromium:
It happens there as well. So not a Brave issue, but a Chromium side issue. However, if a Brave dev sees this, I believe something like this can be fixed and pushed upstream?
Will depend if Chrome devs think its a bug, would check https://issues.chromium.org/issues see if’s been previously reported or not
Considering it does prevent clicking the toggle (you have to “pop” it if it doesn’t move for you), requiring then two clicks to use the toggle under it, any UI developer would and should consider it a bug.
Though, I’ve learned Chromium has had long standing UI quirks that, yea I guess they consider some things “features” at times (I certainly wouldn’t).
I’m just glad I was able to reproduce it in the end.
Also, searching for that kind of issue is challenging. Without knowing what that specific popup is actually called, the best we can do looking is generic terms, and there’s going to be so many other popup issues that aren’t this. Like looking for a needle in a haystack honestly, and I don’t expect the poster here to do that. If we can know what the function is called, then we can search for it, but the best name I can think of is “extension site information warning popup” but again that’s just too generic or doesn’t help a search.
