Problem with search widget

Since the last update of Brave for Android (Version 1.68.134), the search widget on my phone’s home screen is not working properly. When I first tap the widget I see the search screen, but when I start typing it doesn’t auto complete any results (it also doesn’t show recent top sites). When I click my phone’s home button and then tap the widget again, it works as it should and shows suggestions and auto complete.
