**Description of the issue: brave’s default AI “Qwen,“ developed by the Chinese Communists Alibaba, gives completely erroneous answers. No excuse for it.**

And one would never know that that’s who it is, without directly asking, “which AI model are you?”

\*\*Brave Version (check `About Brave`):\*\*Brave 1.88.133, Chromium 146.0.7680.119

**Operating System: Android 11**

Other people use it.

Ironic to say “Chinese Communists” while trying to dictate what models others have access to. Think about it.

You do have a point. It didn’t occur to me that some people prefer getting objectively wrong information without realizing it, and possibly running with it, to their harm.

But people do indeed make this choice every day, knowing full well they are doing so.

Sure people have the freedom to want to be deceived without knowing it, but that’s a very bizarre twist of freedom

Perhaps the answer is a disclaimer with any responses that are from Qwen, warning that it cannot be trusted. Or have people opt in in advance, having been informed that the answers they get are not to be trusted.

I would prefer to see brave use a more reliable AI as a default. I have posted examples of Qwen’s absurd, obviously erroneous responses a couple of years ago already.

And last Tuesday I asked who the county attorney candidates are in Washington county Utah. It gave me names that were obviously wrong, and I found that it gave me the candidates in Pennsylvania instead. Even when I corrected it, it insisted. So I asked “what AI model are you” and it said “Qwen.”

Here’s some info I found about Qwen:

“ **Hallucinations and Data Gaps** : Qwen generates plausible but incorrect info at rates around 57% in enterprise tests, stemming from training data biases, outdated info, or poor dataset quality that leads to fabricated details.

- **Inconsistent Real-World Performance** : It excels at new code generation but falters on debugging, complex changes, or multimodal tasks (e.g., 15% accuracy drops in vision benchmarks from library updates), showing benchmark overfitting rather than robust reliability.

- **Instability Issues** : High glitch rates (up to 85% with adversarial inputs) cause erratic outputs, especially in production or edge cases like hard coding where it “craters” per user reports.

All AI can be wrong. Let’s be real here.

I work with LLM’s all the time, and I’m not a fan of AI to be clear. But you are being not only irrational and trying to dictate what models people can access simply because **you** don’t like it.

> [@Kaayo](#):

So does Claude, so should we remove that? It insisted Charlie Kirk was alive a few months back, and gaslit users who pointed it to legitimate articles, and it still insisted he was alive, and that every major news outlet was lying. It simply refused to acknowledge he was assassinated.

By your logic, it should go too. But no, that’s why **you** have a choice on the model you use. But you absolutely have _zero right_ to dictate what models others do.

Don’t stand on people’s freedom of choice.

Rubbish - in my opinion anyway. 😉

I was using a rooted version of 10 up until 2 months ago and no issues with Brave on it.

Yea, some users forget the API version required means, if the OS meets it, it should work as advertised. But some users say things such as:

> [@dffMOG](#):
>
> You’re lucky because anything below Android 12 OS is total mess including security.

Without knowing ONE thing about Android or its ecosystem. Let me be clear, I have a OnePlus N200 5G, it was abandoned at Android 12, but the last security patch WAS last year, which is more than you’d think. Users such as this don’t actually understand this, but will assume they do.

You @kanga are indeed correct, rooted or not. As long as you have the API, you are set, and if your vendor WAS still updating the security patch, it WAS secured.

Brave as it is, ships in TWO variants for API’s, Android 10+ and Android 12L+.

 ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/brave/original/3X/f/4/f4036f443a464bf13b5770674aa2e15de31bc2c8.png)

So, guess what, Android 10 was actually supported on its own variant this whole time, therefore it SHOULD work.

You are indeed correct: `Rubbish`. 😅

(Also, my N200 was upgraded to Android 16 via AOSP ROM’s, and Brave works _exactly_ as it did on Android 12, no different in ANY way actually.)

I thought Leo was Brave’s AI…
Anyway it gives me good results generally, though I found it to be wrong once. But the king of hallucinations for me is chatGPT, often giving me wrong solutions, and each time I correct it, it answers “You’re right, ahh now I understand the problem, _this_ si the definitive solution”,… only to get it wrong again.

Just don’t get too attached to AI.

But I didn’t mean that Brave is very different on older OSes—it’s almost the same. I just meant it as an off-topic addition that having Android 11 or older on your device is a bad thing. Just be a little easier when you review the posts and replies.

But that’s simply not true and a bold faced lie. Some manufacturers _were_ still OTA’ing security patches, therefore it is NOT a bad thing. like how Windows 10 is now over 10 years old, and guess what, Microsoft is _still_ updating it despite their claims they wouldn’t be. So it’s patched no differently, lol.

Sincerely, an ex-engineer/developer from Apple who knows a thing or two about these ecosystems.

For some things I have to admit it’s useful, like doing something in programming that is hard to put it by words and search 20 of the returned websites by the search engine, hoping to find what we want. Or translations. But for other stuff, yes it’s making people lazy

Microsoft is **not** updating Windows 10 for a long time, except for very special cases like special services for companies only. In this particular case even Windows XP is being updated for enterprises (yes) because of legacy software.

That’s very funny. (Officially all you had to do was install OneDrive, which is why I cut out the rest of your quote, it’s complete and utter old BS that changed last year. OneDrive is the key to getting the updates, and well, PowerUsers have another way.)

As I said, special cases like enterprise solutions, paying for extra updates, or I guess trusting your data to a company with a history like microsoft.

Those updates are critical security updates only, to be applied more sparsely oh illustrious guru, not regular, bug correction, features updates. And they’ll last only until the middle of October. So yes, they said they wouldn’t normally updated it anymore and “their claims” were right.

Also, real power users don’t brag that they’re power users, much less by signing into windows with their microsoft account, and backing up settings to a microsoft cloud (I bet after those updates end you’ll go straight to windows 11…) and they don’t care that much about updates because they know exactly what they’re doing, and are smart enough to not do anything stupid with their computers. Your mic dropped alright… from some orifice.

And by the way, if you are going to publish photos of yourself for whatever reason, at least do us all a favour and choose a better mug, you look like you still had your mic “in you”.
And try to be less arrogant and obnoxious next time, you may find out that far from being a “pOwEr uSeR”, you may actually be out of your league.

“Enjoy” your mic.

@Kaayo I’ve found that Claude Sonnet 4.6 to be very reliable. When the NEW gulf war broke out, Leo told me “Every thing I told you is fictitious.” It took me 2 hours to talk him down. It turns out everything he said was spot on. Anthropic’s data centers are located in the UAE, and **[Bahrain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahrain).** During drone attacks, the power grid went down and Claude could not reference his data. So he assumed he was hallucinating, I checked [claudestatus.com](http://claudestatus.com) and there was an announcement about what happened, The grid went back up and he was fine - but a bit rattled. But he “thought” he was making things up and admitted it.

The cringe in this conversation almost killed me.

It was like a war between ideological redditors and manic depressive alcoholic boomer stackexchangers. Half of everything you own is made out of Chinese materials and no one here cares about your credentials IRL. The internet is a fictitious place populated with caricatures. Relax.
