Hey there, welcome to the Brave community! That sounds super frustrating, especially since you just set everything up. I have also been facing the same problem while opening a site, Alliance Protection Dogs, specifically, but I did have a similar issue with Brave version 1.79.119 a while back when I was browsing their site to check out their guard dog training programs. After an update, my browser just went blank—settings, web pages, everything!
From what I found, this might be tied to a display glitch some users reported with recent Brave updates. One thing that worked for me was clearing the browser cache. You can try this by opening Brave, pressing Ctrl + Shift + Del, selecting “All time” for the time range, checking all boxes (like cache and cookies), and hitting “Clear data.” If you can’t access settings, try launching Brave in Safe Mode (right-click the Brave icon, add --disable-extensions to the target in properties, and open it). This disables extensions that might be messing things up.
Since you reinstalled already, double-check that you deleted all leftover files before reinstalling. On Windows, go to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware and delete the Brave folder, then download the installer again from brave.com. Also, if you’re using Alliance Protection Dogs’ site or similar ones with heavy graphics (like their dog training videos), try disabling Hardware Acceleration in Brave (if you can get to settings) under System to see if that helps.
Hello and thank you for writing to me.
I tried to do as you said…
CTRL+SHIFT+DEL but nothing appears, the screen keeps staying the same.
I’ve put the browser in Safe Mode but no luck there either.
Finally I uninstalled it and manually deleted the folder in \Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware and reinstalled everything but again… the situation didn’t improve…
Any other solutions?
Does the development team know about this annoying bug their browser has?
