Ads aren't being blocked anywhere anymore

Description of the issue:

I restarted my browser and now am getting Google banner and sidebar ads on almost all sites. Yahoo!, Zap2It, Egg Cave, Social Anxiety Support, Reddit, Chicken Smoothie, Tumblr, a local news website…everywhere! My shields are up and always have been. Toggling them off and on doesn’t help. One site I visit every day has a problem with malicious ads hijacking the browser so I’d really prefer if the adblocking works again!

EDIT–and it’s not just Google ads, unfortunately…I just started getting animated ads. A previous computer of mine was ruined by a hijacked ad with malware so this is very upsetting. Basically, I cannot use Brave browser on my laptop anymore. :frowning:

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Just open up a website and there the ads are.

Additional Information:

Adblocking was working like ten minutes earlier! I’m not sure what’s happened. :frowning: I tried clearing my cache, though not everything (not cookies or history).

EDIT, I notice on these pages it says it’s only blocking one item now.

I’m using Windows 10. I’m not experiencing this issue on my mobile browser–yet. I’m due to shut my computer down for the night; if I remember I’ll report back tomorrow if the problem has persisted even after restart, though I hope it doesn’t.

Well, at least it isn’t just me. Very bothersome though!

I just installed the Adblock Plus extension…which I did not think I should have to do, with an adblocking browser. :frowning:

Hope they can look into this now. I checked my other desktop

ads is being blocked accordingly.

its happening on android platform as well.
nothing is being blocked - at all.

Crud, my Android browser is still blocking ads so far, I really hope it doesn’t start acting up, too! :frowning:

Same thing is happening to me on all devices.

+1, only thing is I’m pretty sure brave uses a 3rd party adblock plugin so we will have to wait for them to update their adblock not Brave devs.

I did notice this issue from my laptop, but not on my desktop (both W10 1909 64-bit, version 1.7.89)

Off topic here (sorry): A while back on Android, if the shields are up, it will make me log out on some sites (mostly Instagram & Roblox, but not Twitter) This Android version is 6.0.1, the Brave version is 1.5.131
