Accuracy of number of ads seen

I am wonder about the accuracy of the number of ads seen. I have been using all three of the Brave browsers and have had to do a great deal of searching and researching. It says right now that I have 19 ads for the month, which I believe is for January. The amount time I have spent doing the research and searching I need has been so much that I could probably see 19 ads in one day. If a person wanted to be conservative then maybe 19 ads in a week. How do I only end up with 19 ads in one month? I had noticed this before especially on heavy search and research days and weeks. What is happening?

The counter only counts for non Brave ads and Brave services. Do you know if the majority were Brave’s own?

They were non Brave ads I believe. They were like Insurify, Cloaked etc.

I’m noticing the same issue. I’m seeing lots of ads, both in browser from phone and laptop, but the counter is only at 1. They don’t seems to be brave ads.

Edit: out do curiosity, do we get paid if the ads are from brave?

Edit 2: added screenshots

@overkill22 in terms of yours, it seems accurate. The fanon thing is a Brave ad. It is coordinated with a 3rd party, but still is an advertisement about something Brave is doing. Most of the others you shared seem to be about Brave as well. I think your one exception was the Solflare one, which doesn’t’ show in my region.

No. I’ll quote myself from other topics with a more detailed answer below:

Brave used to pay us for every ad seen, regardless of where the ad was from. They were able to do this because they set aside a growth fund from when they did their initial token offerings. They used that fund to send extra bonuses to people and also to pay everyone for house ads.

In 2024, that fund was used up. The result is that Brave has stopped paying us when we view house ads. We now only are paid for ads that Brave is paid to show us.

If you’re not familiar with the term, house ads are the ads about Brave’s own products and services. So their surveys, advertising about VPN or Leo, Wallet, etc will pay 0 BAT.

When we see those ads, it will not increase the ads viewed counter. The ads viewed counter will only increase if we have seen an ad that we get paid to see.

Well, nothing is stopping you from looking into your ads history and comparing the list to what you’ve seen.

If you’re seeing it now, then it would be referencing the current month, which is February. So it’s saying in the first 4 days (since today is the 4th), you had seen 19 ads.

Depends on situations. Sometimes it’s because of device settings that were blocking the ads, such as if the OS was using Windows Focus mode or something. But more importantly it would matter how many ad campaigns are in your area, if they want to be shown on your OS, and what view limits are set.

Remember, we can choose the maximum amount of ads we see per hour but have no control over the minimum.

You can always look through your ads history and compare. How many are shown and who are the advertisers? If you’re not sure if it’s a paid ad or anything, you can also check https://sampson.codes/brave/ads/my_region/ to see. It generally lists all ad campaigns, what OS they show on, the BAT earned, etc.

And other thing is the words as I mentioned in my prior reply, but also is shown in the screenshot above. The ads viewed counter will only increase if it’s an ad that qualifies for earning. In other words, if Brave doesn’t get paid to show us then it doesn’t count. If it’s a 0 BAT one, it will show to us but not count as a viewed ad.

I know they don’t pay for “house" ads and I have my ads setting at the maximum.
